Wednesday~ Is it Friday yet??
I am tired. Not the too much exercise kind of tired either- for real! I can't sleep kind of tired. It stinks.
I ran today! 3 whole miles on the treadmill before spin class. It was a 9:45 pace. 8 more miles to go for the week!
Spin was an oldie but a goodie. It was a repeating interval, only it got longer every time we started it. The first one was 3 minutes long, then 6, 9 and 13 for the last interval. The moves were:
flat road with resistance
climb
jumps
recover (always 1 minute long today)
I think the class went by fairly quickly and I got a few claps and "thank you's" today- I usually take that as a good sign.
I have a personal training client tonight and that's it.
On tap for tomorrow:
Spin class at 5:30 am (subbing)
Extreme HIT spin class at 7:15 PM -- 90 minutes of fun is what I like to call it.

Ok, so I did meet all my goals. I actually did worse than I thought I would do. Maybe I was too ambitious? Too tired? Or maybe the goals were just too steep since this was not a typical week for me? I think it was a mixture of all of those choices!
I am not even sure I can make goals for this week ( lame) since I have no clue if I am doing the duathlon this coming Sunday. So that in itself makes it hard for me to plan ( lame). So I will post some maybe goals I guess? ( lame). I will call them tentative goals I suppose- I may or may not revise them as plans come about. Good enough. I can adapt. It's like my middle name.
Friday/Saturday/Sunday - OFF. I kind of feel weird about that. We did walk a little bit during the the trip, but not as much activity as I am used to.

Running Miles : 15?

Sunday stuff!
If you are planning any races this year here is a training guide to follow:
5k( 3.1 miles) -10k (6.2 miles)= 8 to 10 weeks
Half marathon (13.1 miles) = 12 to 14 weeks
Full marathon (26.2 miles) = 16 to 18 weeks
Of course the number of weeks you need can vary from person to person depending on your current fitness level, how many miles you are currently running and whether or not you are a newbie or veteran. At any rate, ease into your training, recover and enjoy the experience!Next on my racing agenda:
25k- May 8 ( Goal- under 2 hours. last year I did it in 2:00:39)
10k- May 29 ( PR is I am not sure of a goal yet!
half marathon trail race OR 5k - June 12
10k- June 26
Duathlon- July 11 ( IF I have a bike..haha)
Duathlon- July 17 ( See above!)
That's what I have so far. I hope to remain healthy so I can do all these races and then some!
What are your plans for the upcoming race season?

Saturday Long Run-Rocked It!

I am back! I think. It was frigid today. Freezing cold, windy, windchill of 6 or something stupid like that. This early in the season I might have skipped out or at least been really pissed off about it. Not this morning with my new improved attitude!! I was ready to go. Partly because I have decided to just suck it up and work and partly because I was excited to test out my new GPS Garmin!!
Another long story short. I am taking it back to the store. So sad about this. It has soooo many positives. But the biggest negative trumps all the positives. So sad. I NEED the real GPS capabilities. I calibrated it again for almost 3 miles. After running less than a half mile it was already "off" by over .1 of a mile. Ugh. That is a lot for a non-recreational runner I think ( that would be me).
I did not let that ruin my run though. I was still able to see my pace and faux mileage. There was even a pacer dude on my watch. I was over 5 minutes ahead of him too. It was motivating to see that even though it was not a real person! Call me crazy.
Here are my splits for 10 miles: http://connect.garmin.com/splits/24056231
My avg. was 8:47 a mile I think. That is NOT normal for this girl on her "easy" long run days. It won't happen a lot ( I save it for actual racing! haha), but it sure felt great today.
I even stretched because my carpool buddy is training for a spring marathon and ran 14 miles today, so I had the time. It was MUCH needed. I think I am going to go and stretch some more!

Mission Monday
My mission is over so I need to decide on my next one. I have a few races lined up but nothing set in stone. I might make the next mission another duathlon in August ( with a working bike) or the marathon. I need to think long and hard about this though. The marathon that is.
I am really liking this biking thing though. I love to tackle things that I am not good at and become competitive at it. By competitive I mean by my own standards!
I might take this week off from riding the bike and hop on some gym equipment and pick up the weights again while I decide what I want to do.
